Brenner scored in the 73rd minute to help visiting FC Cincinnati record a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass.
Roman Celentano made five saves for FC Cincinnati (7-7-4, 25 points), who also benefited from an own goal by New England to exact a measure of revenge against the Revolution (6-5-7, 25 points). FC Cincinnati had dropped a 5-1 decision to New England in a U.S. Open Cup match on May 11 and a 3-2 setback just 10 days later.
Dylan Borrero and Gustavo Bou each scored a goal and Djordje Petrovic made three saves for the Revolution, who extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches (4-0-6).
Bou nearly gave the Revolution a 2-1 lead with a backheel kick in the 54th minute before accomplishing the feat in the next minute on a header off Emmanuel Boateng's cross. Bou's goal was his fourth in his last six matches.
Petrovic briefly preserved the advantage by making a pair of stops in the 69th minute. The first came after a deflection by Revolution defender Brandon Bye, while the second was a save on a point-blank shot from FC Cincinnati leading goal-scorer Brandon Vazquez.
Brenner continued his scoring surge by forging a tie in the 73rd minute. The MLS Player of the Week scored his fifth goal in his last three matches after unleashing a shot from the left side of the box that beat Petrovic.
New England opened the scoring in the 30th minute after Sebastian Lletget secured possession of the ball between two FC Cincinnati defenders. Lletget elected to hold his place before feeding a charging Borrero, who unleashed a left-footed blast from inside the box for his second goal in his last three matches.
FC Cincinnati forged a tie just 11 minutes later after Luciano Acosta's cross glanced off the head of Revolution defender Henry Kessler and into the net.
